Fast forward for the GCC Railway

9th September 2013

The Rail Focus day, which was part of the Oman Land Transport Infrastructure Summit 2013, took place on 8th September 2013 in Muscat, Oman. Moderated by RWG Chairman Howard Rosen, the day looked at various aspects of the $ 100 billion plus GCC railway project, due to link Kuwait with Muscat by 2018. Oman itself has made considerable progress with its own rail project, priced at about $ 15 billion, which will link into the GCC railway. The conference heard detailed information about developments in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Oman. The total projected spend in the coming years on all rail projects in the Gulf, including Metro and LRT, should comfortably exceed $ 200 billion in the coming years, said one speaker.
